A great opportunity to try something different

As a recent graduate, Shaban Mahmood wanted to try working on different projects. He got the opportunity to do this through Epico, and today he has a permanent job as a software developer

When Shaban Mahmood finished his master's degree in computer engineering in the summer of 2017 and started looking for jobs, he had potentially many relevant job opportunities to choose from.

Still, he became interested when an employee from Epico contacted him via LinkedIn and asked if he would like to be associated with Epico.

"I had been to a few job interviews, but the opportunities at Epico sounded interesting. As a recent graduate, I wanted to try working on a few different projects, to see where my interest lay and establish a network in the industry. I would have the opportunity to do that at Epico," says Shaban Mahmood.

He therefore agreed to an interview at Epico. After the interview, Shaban was sent descriptions of different job opportunities with Epico's customers, and a job as a developer at Trifork in Aarhus caught his attention.

He came for an interview at Trifork and was offered the job. However, he did not join the company until a few months later, because he had just become a father.

"It played out from the first conversation at Trifork, and both the company and the project sounded interesting. I was going to work as a developer on the backend of a new project in the healthcare sector – and that is exactly the sector I have always been interested in," says Shaban Mahmood.

The contract was extended

He was first hired on a six-month contract, which was then extended for another six months. After that, Shaban started working with frontend development at Trifork, but he had to admit that his interest lies mainly in the backend.

He therefore mentioned to us at Epico that we would like to poke him if any interesting opportunities arose at other companies.

After a few weeks, he received an inquiry that the company Systematic lacked employees with the skills that Shaban has. He came for an interview, and 20 minutes after the interview, he was offered the job as a software developer on a six-month contract.

Was offered a job after six months

"At Systematic, I got to work with backend development again. However, not in the health field at first, but I later got the opportunity to do so," says Shaban.

After six months at Systematic, the 28-year-old developer was offered a permanent job at the Aarhus-based company, which he had already dreamed of working for during his studies.

Shaban has been happy with the process with Epico, which gave direct access to the job market as a recent graduate, just as it helped clarify what he would particularly like to work with as a developer.

As an employee at Epico, you get the opportunity to try something different, and it was also an easy and quick way to get a job as a new graduate. I just had to send a CV and didn't have to do anything myself before I was called for an interview in a company.
