Got his first IT job with NextGen
Got a foot in the door with Epico NextGen

As a recent graduate, it is not always easy to enter the labour market, but as 31-year-old computer scientist, Robin Hopff Heilskov, found out – it is possible to land the job of your dreams.
Robin Hopff Heilskov graduated as a computer scientist in 2021, and then started looking for a job where he could work with software development:
"Getting your foot in the door in the labour market – it's not always easy when you're a recent graduate and don't have any special work experience to lean on"
Fortunately for Robin, it turned out not to be that difficult at all. He had a chat with an employee from Epico NextGen, who saw a potential in him. Since 2016, Epico NextGen has specialized in matching newly graduated IT talents with companies, and helping IT talents get started in their careers. This concept was also one of the things that appealed to Robin and one of the reasons why he chose a job at NextGen:
It sounded like an exciting set-up, where NextGen makes sure to match me and my skills with open positions - and there were actually a few different jobs in play from the start, says Robin.

Quickly got a job through Epico
Therefore, it didn't take long from Robin being contacted by NextGen to him having a specific IT job in hand. Robin was hired by NextGen and was offered a position as a software developer at a telecommunications company.
The company develops and delivers IT solutions within TV, broadband, network and telephony to both private individuals and companies. Here Robin is sitting with what he describes as software development within an old technology stack – something that is no longer supported by updates. Robin thus gets to know both older and newer technologies, and he gains experience working professionally in a development team.
"I gain experience and experience with software development," Robin adds when talking about how he uses his education in his daily work routine. And this experience and development is exactly what motivates Robin: For example, seeing the development tasks that he has been involved in being used on a daily basis by the users.
